How Can I Realistically Lose Weight So I Can Have More Energy to __________ (travel, play with my kids, etc)?

I found myself in a place a few years ago where I was not fitting into my clothes. I was at a crossroads, and I needed to make a choice. I was either going to need to buy a new wardrobe in a larger size or make changes to my body.

I was a little overwhelmed by the thought of making those big changes, but I was NOT about just to give up and spend money on new clothes (I am too stubborn for that!) It wasn’t really about the money. I was scared, but I also knew that if I didn’t get things under control, it would have big consequences for the rest of my life. I knew that I want to be here for my kids (we have a serious history of heart problems in my family), and I want to be able to live my best life and continue to travel with them and explore if I was not in a healthy space with my weight.

I buckled down and started a great free 20 minute online workout three days a week, and I was CONSISTENT with it (that part is important…it doesn’t have to be big, but it has to be CONSISTENT). I am not going to lie…it did take a while. It was a few months of work, but I did get to a place where my body felt GOOD and my clothes fit again.

What I learned deep down from this is that I am control of my body and I was able to make those changes. Now, I no longer feel overwhelmed when I gain a few pounds and my clothes start feeling tight, or if something else doesn’t feel right in my body…I just get to work!

I am sharing this because I think that there are a lot of people out there who are in a place where they feel POWERLESS to make changes, and I know how hard of a place that can be to be in. I felt trapped and unmotivated. Once I saw that I could do things and that they actually had an impact on my body, it took my powerless feeling away.

Travel is my jam, but those who know me know that I am also a massage therapist and that I have dedicated a big chunk of my adult life helping folks feel better. The two actually come together in many ways, because your health impacts EVERYTHING else in your life. If you are not feeling good, are not at a healthy weight for you, are not getting a healthy diet, etc., it impacts your ability to travel and live your best life, and this impact is multiplied into the future.
